CSULB Farmers market

Things I Did: Research, Benchmarking

Duration: 11/02/23 - 12/12/23 (5 weeks)

The Farmer’s Market is an event that is held by Sustain U at California State University of Long Beach. The Farmer’s Market is held to promote and “enhance the environmental quality of our campus community by engaging with students, staff, and faculty”. Bringing in different vendors for the farmer’s market and having our students and faculty to gather together and enjoy food and celebrate businesses, while promoting sustainability is the main focus for Sustain U.

Audience research

According to California State University of Long Beach, in Fall 2022, there were 6,476 incoming Freshmen who enrolled in CSULB. With the acknowledgment of new students coming into the campus, probably, they do not know the whole campus. Although the other three grades have been attending the school for a longer period, there is a big chance that those students do not know the campus by memory due to classes being close to each other due to the separation of buildings throughout campus.

There are multiple Farmer’s Markets held around many different schools. Because CSULB is a California university, I have selected to do the benchmarking according to different schools in California.

Solution 1: Add a QR Code to the poster for easy access. This will allow people who are new to the school or just unfamiliar with the campus to find the information for the Farmer’s market. Due to the increase in using QR Codes since Covid-19 it is a quick fix, which will help bring more audience to the Farmer’s Market.

Solution 2: Add a interactive map with a description of the vendors. This is beneficial to both on campus and off campus use. If people are on their way to the Farmer’s Market annd they need directions to the market, the interactive map is perfect.
